Researchmoz added Most up-to-date research on "Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Therapeutics in South-East Asia Markets to 2023 - Increasing Usage of Newer Therapies and Expanding Treatment Population to Encourage Robust Growth" to its huge collection of research reports.

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by chronic hyperglycemia - high blood glucose levels - that results from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or a combination of these. Chronic hyperglycemia is associated with the long-term damage, dysfunction and failure of multiple organs including the eyes, kidneys, nerves, heart and blood vessels. Prevalence of the disease has risen rapidly in recent decades in the assessed South-East Asia countries, primarily as a result of rising obesity, a major risk factor for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This has resulted in a large and competitive market landscape, with a number of drugs vying for various market segments across multiple lines of therapy.

T2DM treatment has been revolutionized in the past decade, especially with the increased use of new therapies. The marketed products landscape comprises a wide range of treatment options, including biguanide (metformin), sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, GLP-1 receptor agonist, DPP-4 inhibitor, SGLT-2 inhibitor, and insulin therapies.  Nevertheless, significant unmet need remains for products that can offer better glycemic control, as well as the prevention and cure of diabetic complications, such as diabetic nephropathy, retinopathy, and cardiovascular disease.

Scope

The current T2DM market in South-East Asia contains novel products, including Jardiance, a SGLT-2 inhibitor; Victoza, a GLP-1 receptor agonist; and Januvia, a DPP-4 inhibitor.

- What are the competitive advantages of the existing novel drugs?
- There are over 609 active pipeline molecules, with most of the late-stage investigational drug candidates featuring improved dosing regimens and administration routes compared with currently marketed products and combination therapies.
- Which classes of novel drugs are most prominent in the pipeline?
-  Is there potential for pipeline molecules to address unmet needs within the T2DM market?

Analysis of clinical trials since 2006 identified that the failure rates of T2DM molecules were highest in Phase III, at 62.1%, with the overall attrition rate for T2DM standing at 88.3%.

- How do failure rates vary by product stage of development, molecule type, and mechanism of action?
- How do other factors, such as average trial duration and trial size, influence the costs and risks associated with product development?
- Over the 2016-2023 forecast period, the T2DM therapeutics market in South-East Asia is expected to increase in value at a CAGR of 6.3%, from $1.92 billion to over $2.96 billion.
- Which markets make the most significant contribution to the regional market size?

Researchmoz added Most up-to-date research on "Positron Emission Tomography Market - Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends And Forecast, 2014 - 2020" to its huge collection of research reports.

Positron emission tomography (PET) is a nuclear medicine imaging procedure that is used to monitor various internal body organs and tissues in order to identify certain disease conditions. It is performed by using a small amount of radioactive substance called tracers which move through blood circulation and thus helps radiologists in identifying the area of concerns precisely. PET imaging procedure provides a better insight about the working condition of organs and tissues, size, shape and position. PET is most widely used by oncologists in order to diagnose various types of cancer; neurologists in order to diagnose neurological disorders and cardiologists in order to diagnose cardiovascular diseases. Ongoing developments in this area are likely to begin its use in other specialties as well. This is also performed in order to assess the progress of the treatment of certain diseases. This procedure is different from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) as they only show the tissue structure and blood flow to and from organs. This imaging procedure is also being used in combination with other diagnostic technologies such as CT with an aim to provide more precise information about various neurological, cardiovascular and cancer diseases.

The market for positron emission tomography is growing worldwide owing to increasing incidences of various cancers, neurological and cardiovascular diseases; growing use of PET in combination with other diagnostic technology such as CT and MRI, ongoing technological developments and expanding applications of PET procedure. Uninterrupted developments and discovery of new tracers (radionuclides) are also driving the PET imaging market. In addition, advantages offered by PET over other imaging technologies also drive the market growth. High cost associated with PET equipment has been identified as one of the major factors restraining the PET market growth. PET being highly capital intensive encourages the refurbished market for PET equipment.

In Asia-Pacific region, increasing awareness among medical fraternity regarding the nuclear imaging technologies is likely to drive the market growth. Asia-Pacific being a home for more than half of the world population represents a large pool of patients suffering from various cancers, neurological and cardiovascular diseases.

The presence of such large pool of patients attracts companies like GE Healthcare, Siemens Healthcare and Philips Healthcare to invest in the region. Boost in the medical tourism industry in the region has also been considered as one of the major factors driving the market growth. A large number of patients come from other countries for various treatment procedures that propel healthcare providers of this region to equip with technically advanced medical technologies.

The market for positron emission tomography is highly consolidated and is dominated by a few select numbers of players, namely, GE Healthcare, Philips Healthcare and Siemens Healthcare. These players collectively account for more than 80% of the market share. Positron Corporation, Segami Corporation, Spectrum Dynamics Ltd., Naviscan, Inc. and MedX Holdings Inc. are some other players operating in this market.
